All this birthday's crap

Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog.

Today is the time for some philosophy and thinking - what's the whole point of having a party, inviting people, having presents?.. This is a tradition we don't choose, because everyone's waiting for you to buy drinks and food and treat them and entertain them. And for exchange we get the presents, money or something we've asked beforehand. Even when we are young and don't actually understand the meaning of this thing, and likely won't remember it, our parents just can't help but organize the party, invite theis friends , though our childhood is already one big never ending party. 

So this is an important tradition to mark this day among all others and share this event with relatives and friends. There are several reasons why are we doing this.

First of all we are simply grateful for such a gift - life - and it seems right to thank our parents, destiny, God or Cosmos by celebrating our Birthday.

The second reason is that people do strongly believe that there is always a destiny, some meaning of life, some reason why we exist, and Birthday is a beginning of fulfilling this destiny. No matter if you are an atheist or you have some beliefe in a greater power, you do have your own reasons to explain why you are here, on Earth, living your own way of life.

The third reason is our modern society. We behave as we are expected to, so a Birthday party with traditional elements like paying for your guests or drinking alcohol is what we must do to continue being a part of our social groups. we do it at school, university, work and so on. We can't escape it because this is a social unspoken rule. 

Of course there are different ways of celebrating Birthdays, depending on different cultures: meal, list of entertainings, persons to be invited. But there are some common features which I'd like to discuss here.
The day of person's birth, and then the same day every year, is a time when this person is most vulnerable, his soul can be taken and his body may get ill. So there is a great danger, and a newborn must be protected. That is why he asks his relatives and close friends to be together with him this day, to wish for him all good things, banish evil.
Everything cooked is some kind of sacrifice to the invited guests and to the greater powers. Everything presented is a protection and a symbol of all good intentions.

Birthday is a very important day even if you don't like it and don't celebrate. You body rememders the first day of your actual life, you're often in a bad mood a couple of days before birthday, but a day after you feel like your life starts again.
